Item Quality
Item Quality Policy
At Vintage Bulk, we strive to offer high-quality vintage clothing. As specialists in both wholesale and retail vintage fashion, we understand that the condition of the clothing is an important consideration for our customers. Our grading system is designed to provide transparency and give you an accurate picture of the state of the items you purchase. Below, you'll find a detailed overview of our grading system, so you can make an informed decision when placing an order.
Our Grading System
Our vintage clothing is divided into three quality grades: A-Grade, B-Grade, and C-Grade. These classifications represent the overall condition of each item, including fabric quality, degree of wear, visible imperfections, and age. The price difference between the grades is based on the condition of the items: B-Grade and C-Grade often require more restoration work or are less valuable in their current form. Below is an overview of what you can expect per grade.
How Is Item Quality Assessed?
Each item is carefully inspected by our experienced team. We assess the following aspects when determining the grade:
✔ Fabric condition (tears, holes, wear, discoloration)
✔ Structure and shape (wear, stretching, deformation)
✔ Closures (buttons and zippers) ✔ Cleanliness (any stains, odors, marks)
Important: You are purchasing USED second-hand clothing. The items are not new, and some wear is to be expected. Please allow for a 15-20% margin of error in item quality due to the manual curation of the boxes.
Our items are delivered in compact packaging, which means they may be wrinkled upon arrival. This is normal and not a sign of damage or a defect. The wrinkles can easily be removed by steaming the items yourself, or by washing and then steaming them. For added convenience, we offer an optional steam service. If you choose this, we'll ensure your items are professionally steamed and shipped wrinkle-free.
A-Grade – Excellent Condition
What you can expect: A-Grade items are in excellent condition and show minimal to no wear. They have been barely worn and may even appear unworn. There are no or hardly visible stains, tears, or discolorations. All functional details, such as zippers, buttons, and fasteners, work perfectly. Although there may be slight discoloration or minimal wear due to age, this does not detract from the overall appearance of the garment.
B-Grade – Good Condition
What you can expect: B-Grade items show light to moderate signs of wear, such as discoloration, small stains, or minimal fabric wear/small holes. Minor imperfections may be present, such as a loose or missing button, a small hole, slight fraying, or a small stain. These defects are generally repairable.
C-Grade – Fair Condition
What you can expect: C-Grade items show clear signs of age and intensive use, such as large stains, strong discolorations, worn fabric, or multiple holes. Stretched or torn sections may be present, as well as larger imperfections such as visible holes or severe discolorations. These garments often require professional cleaning or repair before they are wearable again. Wear and tear is common in vulnerable areas such as collars, buttons, and around stitching. While repair is possible, we cannot guarantee that all signs of wear will be completely removed or restored.
The difference between Grade B and Grade C items is that the imperfections in Grade C are harder to repair than in Grade B.
General Remarks
Age and Authenticity: Our vintage pieces come from various decades and may vary in wear depending on their age and usage history. All items are guaranteed authentic.
Repairs and Adjustments: If you plan to resell B-Grade or C-Grade items, we recommend factoring in the cost of repair or restoration. Many vintage enthusiasts enjoy giving clothing a second life.
Size Differences: Vintage sizes may differ from modern sizes. Unless otherwise stated, our bundles contain a mix of men's and women's clothing, and sometimes a small amount of children's clothing.
Washing: We recommend washing all received items for the best selling opportunities. Before returns based on grading are considered, we ask you to first wash the items to remove any imperfections.
